I know that, most recently, Music Monday has somehow been frequently dedicated to the works of singer/songwriter Billy Joel -- but, I just can't help myself. For some reason, his music always has a way of reminding me of Summer & childhood car rides with my father to Sunday tag sales. So, it's only natural that after a short weekend home, in Connecticut, with family -- Billy Joel subconsciously comes to my mind for Music Monday.

The song chosen, today, strongly resonates with me as although I'm all things adult -- going home has a way of reminding me that there are parts of me that will forever remain a whimsical child.

Here's to a blissful week ahead & the happiest of Mondays,

It's been a fantasy of mine, ever since I've moved to Boston, to take a picnic basket down to the Charles River docks at the Esplanade & watch the sun set. Even though Nick & I  live right across the street from the water, last Summer got away from us & we never really took advantage of the fact that the Esplanade is a stone's throw away.
Now that our lives are a little more settled here -- we're taking the time to really make spontaneous trips happen around our neighborhood. So, tonight, Nick suggested we take that little basket, a bottle (or two) of wine & set up shop on a dock -- all in attempt to fulfill that deep-rooted sun setting fantasy of mine. I'm looking forward to the blissful calm, catch up conversation & our pre-fixed dinner menu: Grilled Salmon burgers with spicy aioli sauce, a side salad, boursin cheese, prosciutto wrapped mozzarella, grapes, carrots & pesto white bean hummus.

I'm hoping to make picnic Thursday a weekly thing this Summer.

A delicious place to Study.

Recently I just finished taking my law-school finals. Although I'm certainly glad they're over & will not miss the studying process, I honestly looked forward to frequently setting up shop at the perfect study break spot: The Thinking Cup on Tremont. The cute cafe offers petite desserts, baguette sandwiches & bold coffee. Below are some photos snapped from my study (& snack) break last week.

James Morrison. Acoustic guitar. &, the breathy sounds from the shore. Three of my favorite things make for one very special song. Enjoy.

At the end of the month, Kristen T. & I are taking a hiatus from the city & traveling to Newport, RI for a much-needed Memorial Day weekend holiday.

Our better-halves, & ourselves, will be taking on the quaint shoreline town & all it has to offer. Here are a few photos that are inspiring me, beyond belief, for all things "NPT."

These last few weeks, I've been up to my elbows in finals, papers & pending deadlines (with the last test tomorrow).

Through all of this, whenever I need a smile or just a break, I throw this song on & somehow it brings me a sense of calm & escape.

With the forecast calling for rain for the first week of May, I made the earnest effort to spend my lunch break outdoors yesterday to soak up the last moments of imminent sunshine (even if most of the time it was tucked behind looming clouds). As I was walking around my office in Cambridge, I became immersed in all the beautiful colors & took some photos of my surroundings to help inspire my Summer wardrobe. Here are a few of my favorites...

Punchy pink flowers set behind a park bench bring to mind this Maxi dress on my wish list.
A colorful row of pastel-painted houses, just like an outfit, can be beautifully off set by the use of coral pink.
This color teal, seen on the hydrant, makes for sea-like undertones when used on a Summer statement piece.
Office planters featuring perky yellow blossoms remind me that sunshine-inspired notes can brighten any outfit (especially when done with an Espadrille).
